Bio-Statistics has been developed as a science of applied statistics and quickly gaining more and more importance in the field of biological and medical sciences.
Scope & Objective :
The proposed national seminar aims to bring together the Statistician, Researchers involved in Biological, Medical, Clinical Research and Students etc. on one platform to understand and develop applied skills for bio-statistical consulting, analysis and applied research. It is designed to understand the recent development in the use of Statistics in Biological and Medical Sciences.It is expected that the proposed seminar will open up new frontiers of collaborative research in the field of Biostatistics, Biological, Clinical and Medical research
Call For Papers :
Teachers/Researchers/Research Scholars / students desirous to make oral presentation are requested to send two copies of abstract (not exceeding 300 words) along with a copy of full paper to the Coordinator, National Seminar on Biostatistics, Department of Statistics, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh – 786004.
Important Dates :
Last date of submission of abstract : 31/07/2011
Last date of submission of full length paper : 31/08/2011
The papers would be sent to the referee for acceptability to present in the seminar. Papers accepted would be intimated to the author before 15 days of the seminar.
Registration Fee :
Participants from academic institutions, Industries Students / Research Scholars : Rs. 500/- from academic institution : Rs. 300/-
The registration fee will include the conference material lunch and dinner for all the seminar days.
Guest House facility is available in the University Campus. However, due to limited rooms an advanced information latest by 30th Sept. 2011 is required to ensure the accommodation. Good hotels in the town are available with room rent Rs. 500/- per day onwards.

Department at a Glance:
The Department of Statistics, established in the year 1967, is well known for its research in Probability Distribution, Econometrics, Reliability, Statistical Quality Control and Statistical Inference. Recently the department has given more emphasis on research in medical and health Statistics. The department has received financial assistance under FIST programme for the period 2004-2009, assistance under UGC innovative programme to run a Post Graduate Diploma in Statistical Techniques and Computation (PGDSTC) course 2007-2012. The department is also being identified by the UGC under the Special Assistance Programme (SAP), in 2009. The department its own research journal of international repute since, 1987.
