Post Doctoral Research fellow in Alzheimer's Disease at University of Western Onatario | Canada
A new post-doctoral position is available to test novel prion protein ligands as therapeutic targets in Alzheimer’s disease (See Caetano et al., 2008 J. Neuroscience; Beraldo et al., 2010 Faseb Journal and Beraldo et al., 2010 JBC).
The successful applicant will be part of a vibrant and multi-disciplinary team using state-of-the-art techniques in biochemistry and cell biology, including protein-protein interaction and advanced live cell imaging. Opportunity to work with animal models of Alzheimer’s disease and genetically modified mice recently developed targeting proteins that interact with the prion protein is also available. The group is located at the Robarts Research Institute (www.robarts.ca), University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada.
Highly motivated applicants with a recent PhD and previous experience in molecular and cellular biology or a strong background in protein biochemistry and interest in neurodegenerative diseases are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. This project is funded until 2013.
Robarts has state-of-the-art facilities for genomics, cellular imaging, whole animal imaging and molecular pathology. The University of Western Ontario (www.uwo.ca) is a major educational and research center in Ontario with over 25,000 undergraduate and 5,000 graduate students. London, known as the Forest City, is an affordable and vibrant community two hours from Toronto.
